WRT your twitter post about the high number of applicants for the CI program, it seems that if you are in a position that you have enough for a thesis but could stay another year, then there is nothing to be lost from applying to the CI program. i.e. you get your advisor to say that you can graduate and if you get the job, you graduate, otherwise you stay. So it seems likely that this is a reason for the high number of applicants.
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested in a breakdown between people who have *already* graduated (i.e. who will be jobless if they do not get a job starting Sept 2009) and those who have not graduated as of the application deadline.
