From time to time, I am called upon (usually by people I have met for the first time), to answer the burning question

'But what is computational geometry used for' ?

David Eppstein has put together an extremely comprehensive set of pages titled 'Geometry in Action' that illustrate the many ways in which computational geometry seeps into the world at large. WARNING: read too many of these pages and you will start seeing Voronoi diagrams in challah bread.
