Fran Allen, Turing Award, 2006

Fran Allen, Fellow Emerita at IBM, has been named this year's Turing Award winner. She is also the first woman to win this award.

    I am so unbelievably thrilled to read that Fran Allen has won this prestigous award. Fran contributed so much to the field of computer science, has done tremendous things for women in science and engineering, and is a real Mensch.
