STOC 2005

Lance has been liveblogging from the business meeting at STOC 2005. Usually these events are quite dreary; this year though it looks like things got hot and spicy, with many discussion on the direction of theory funding (DOWN) and what we can do about it (TAKE TO THE STREETS?).

A new wiki, TheoryMatters, has surfaced as an intended clearing house for advocacy and information about the relevance of theoretical computer science. There appear to be some initial glitches (you can't sign the guest book or edit pages without a password, and no mention on how to get one), but it will be an interesting experiment...

Update: Lance points out that the main page has a contact email address, and a mailing list that you can subscribe to.
